Birds of a feather

Today’s walk started with Chris, a fellow pilgrim from the UK with a similar background as mine.  We had fun reminiscing about the early PC days and what apps came on the machines, like Word Perfect, d-Base, Lotus 123, etc.

After a break we split up and I walked with some of my other Camino family members.  We still continue to play leapfrog day after day.  The youngest pilgrim I have seen looks to be about 10 and walking with his dad.  The oldest person, (who has given me his age,) was a gentleman from Alabama at age 83.  The range of nationalities and backgrounds is amazing and wonderful.

Dinner conversations end up being in multiple languages.  The only common factor is the desire to walk the Camino.  For some, it is their lifelong dream while others have done it multiple times.  However, The Way brings us all together, united in the goal of making it to Santiago de Compostela.

Yesterday’s surprise was the Elvis Bar in town.  It is a strange place, but the owner is a real hoot.  Lots of good American rock and roll for us pilgrims.  The funniest part is the size of the town.  There is really only one other bar and a few albergues.

Today we arrived in our last big city, León.  Yes, they also have a small central church too.

Tomorrow, we will head towards the hills.  There are 2 more days before we go up and over the passes.  I am looking forward to it!  Most say it is the best part of the Camino…
